Artificial Intelligence in Jira ≥ Our mission at Atlassian is to unlock the potential of every team. No matter where the work is done, we believe that the future of teamwork will be a partnership between humans and artificial intelligence (AI).
In April, we announced our ambition to transform teamwork by leveraging AI, powered by 20 years of insights into how millions of software, IT and business teams plan, track and deliver their work. Since then, we’ve been creating AI-powered teamwork experiences that show how humans and AI can work better together.
We are surprised by the response we have received so far. Approximately 10% of Atlassian’s 265,000+ customers have taken advantage of Atlassian Intelligence through our beta program. Many first users report significant benefits. Here is an example:
- Teams at Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd use Atlassian Intelligence to improve individual productivity.
“In my day-to-day work, Atlassian Intelligence acts as a virtual teammate that turns 5-page PIR reports into 5-sentence summaries for me, so I can get up to speed quickly before monthly review meetings. The product has already proven its worth by increasing productivity in our teams.” Matthias Hansen, Group Technology Director
- Ovo Energy, a leading energy technology company committed to creating a world with clean, affordable energy for everyone, used Atlassian Intelligence to provide AI-powered assistance to developers on Slack.
“Atlassian Intelligence helped us move our DevOps applications to Slack to reduce context switching. To streamline support for developers in Slack, we used the virtual agent to create an AI-powered Developer Assistant, which means they can get help without having to leave their favorite tools. Leveraging Atlassian Intelligence to reduce distractions, as well as AI responses and issue summaries, has provided a boost to our developer experience.”
Martin Brignall, Developer Tools Specialist
Today, we are excited to announce the general availability of the first wave of Atlassian Intelligence capabilities on our cloud platform!
Generative AI in Editorial
Human-Artificial Intelligence Collaboration Begins
The first set of Atlassian Intelligence capabilities not only empowers teams by increasing individual productivity, but also uses enterprise data to make insights instantly accessible and leverages those insights to simplify data-driven decision making. Let’s take a look at what we have started and what is coming soon.
Accelerate Individual Productivity
Teamwork is based on individual productivity: when each team member is empowered to do their best, the whole team can achieve more. With Atlassian Intelligence, team members can prepare business-critical content pages in seconds, automate routine tasks by simply asking in natural language, instantly summarize long-form content, and more easily access relevant and context-specific help. Now everyone can do their best work – with speed, efficiency and excellence.
Available Today
- Generative AI in Editor: Create user stories on the fly in Jira Software tickets, change the tone of a customer response from factual to empathetic in Jira Service Management, or create a starting point for a test plan in Confluence.
- AI-powered summaries: Learn about any topic in Confluence with AI-generated summaries and summarize issues to quickly resolve incidents in Jira Service Management.
- Natural language automation: Quickly automate actions using natural language in Confluence. (Coming soon to Jira Software!)
- AI definitions (beta): Instantly explain company-specific concepts, jargon or acronyms with Atlassian Intelligence in Confluence. Coming soon to Jira Software and Jira Service Management.
Gain insights from enterprise data
Atlassian Intelligence enables teams to glean actionable insights from data faster than ever before. Seamless natural language interfaces allow users to use plain language to create complex queries, enabling flexible question and answer experiences across an organization’s knowledge base.
From natural language to JQL
Available Today
- From natural language to JQL: Use natural language to more easily and quickly find issues and their dependencies, including those that require complex JQL queries in Jira Software or Jira Work Management.
- From natural language to SQL: Extend access to the robust insights in Atlassian Analytics beyond data science teams, so every team member can ask questions that lead to a better understanding of key business metrics such as project execution trends, customer support velocity or team health.
- Q&A search in Confluence (beta): Go beyond simple search results to find actionable insights by asking questions about the status of projects, key workflows, policies or processes. Confluence is now in beta.
- Q&A search in Compass (beta): Reduce time spent searching for information across your microservices, systems and teams by asking questions in natural language about your technology stack to get specific answers about components and deployments.
Use AI with Atlassian Intelligence to take action
In November, we launched virtual agents in Jira Service Management, a dedicated AI-powered virtual teammate that can respond to help requests in Slack. With virtual agents, teams can significantly reduce human workload while maintaining service quality.
This is the first dedicated AI assistant to help you and your teams achieve more, faster. We believe there will be many more dedicated virtual teammates, each helping teams move from ideas to action at unprecedented speed.
Available today
- Claim type suggestions: AI can help Jira Service Management administrators create demand types with just a few word commands. Quickly create a service project for everything from requesting a research participant gift voucher, to requesting a health and safety check in the production process, or even sending a VIP request to the event team for Taylor Swift’s global tour.
Coming soon
- Bitbucket code reviewer: AI will review pull request differences and automatically leave comments with suggested changes to syntax and code conventions so that human reviewers have more time to review critical changes. Software developers will also be able to automatically generate PR descriptions from commit messages, providing valuable context to the changes.
This is only the beginning of what is possible. With virtual teammates helping you at all stages of your workflow, your teams will have an almost unfair advantage. Using AI to drive the business forward, with all its various moving parts, everyone will work at a high level.
